Before travelling to China
Check your passport and itinerary with the Chinese immigration authorities. Ask your insurer about planned services, complications and changes to your return journey. Bring the receiving provider’s written details to your own clinician.
Chinese immigration guidance ↗What will it cost?
Ask for a written estimate in yuan showing medical fees, interpreting and travel costs separately.
Entry and onward travel
Check the rules that apply to your passport, arrival point and full itinerary. An entry policy for Hainan can be limited to the island. Confirm any onward travel to another destination before buying tickets.
Chinese immigration guidance ↗Language, transfers and a companion
Request the language needed for clinical discussions and written reports. Ask who will meet you, whether a companion can share the room, and which transfers, meals or extra nights are included.
Reports and results after you leave
Before departure, ask for the clinical summary, test results, any pending reports and an itemised invoice. Arrange a route for later questions and share the documents with your own care team.
